Digitization of the application reporting platform

Background

Within the logistics area of INDITEX a digital transformation was taking place, that is, they were beginning to migrate from Excel to the PowerBI platform. I was in charge of the design and experience of the "Requests" functions.

Requierments

Inditex logistics was in the process of digitizing its reports. One of them was the "requests" report. The tool they were using was Excell, but the drawback was that it was not agile when updating the status of the requests or being able to have an overview of which ones were in danger.

The requirements that were indicated to us were the following:

Who are they?

Our target audience in this case are the Stakeholders who are in charge of following up the orders placed by the KAMs to know for which company they are placing the order.

Planning the ideas

Once we know who are the people who will use this tool, we proceed to collect the needs they need to solve in this new digitization process to know what ideas could be raised.

The time has come to define the roadmap and the implementation time of the developed strategy.

The cover-up

Several proposals were worked with the main elements that should appear in the design using the napkin process. The result was 2 versions.

At this point, we validated our options with the end users to make sure that our value proposition is the right one. For this we passed the design to figma and this was the result.

Tech validation

Once we had the design accepted, we had to know the technical limitations existing in PowerBI in order to propose an adequate technological solution according to the product's characteristics and study the feasibility in coordination with those responsible for this area.

The most relevant were the following:

  • The first limitation was the visualization of the graphics, and the fact that in the design we had proposed for "Area" it could not be done, so we had to separate it.
  • Also, there were problems with the spacing given to the dropdowns as it misaligned the information in the table. With the help of the developers we were finally able to reach a solution.
  • Finally, the visualization that shows you the graphic when you hover had its own design and could not be modified except for color and typography. We adapted

Business validation

Once we know which route we can go down, we validate with the stakeholders and business the concept based on the business requirements, also thinking about the scalability of the product.

The final deliverable for the development team was a final figma file where the necessary aspects of the functional definition of the design were documented in order to make its implementation easier and more agile.
